Zen Wellness Testimonials

This is a very small sampling of the 1000s of testimonials we have received over the last 20 years…

Inspiration led me to Zen Wellness and Qi Gong…and they literally saved my life.  It is now February of 2013 and I just turned 55.  In November of last year I began a journey that has transformed and restored me to youthful vigor.

Over the past few years time was catching up to me with health issues such as pain in both knees, lower back, abdominal area, extremely low energy, low libido, borderline high blood pressure, and depression.

In a very short time, practicing a little at first, listening to audio files, watching videos, and participating in the weekly live call; I practiced daily whether it was 5 minutes or an hour in the morning and afternoon.  I was able to return my health to what I feel is younger than age 40!  I have learned so much about myself during this time.

I have been working on this long distance from Kansas and this was my first opportunity to meet Master Leone, Master Campbell and their amazing staff as I am writing this from the first Zen Business Bootcamp and training immersion I have attended.  So if you are ready for personal transformation and restoration, contact Zen Wellness or come see me and we will help you begin your journey.

My experience with Zen Wellness so far has been amazing.  The teachers are knowledgeable, kind, and fun.  With each of them having a different approach and style, I really feel that I am getting the most well rounded teachings/practice.  I will definitely be joining Zen Wellness again for future retreats/training, this is just the beginning.

My name is Charlene Nichol and I a grateful member of the Chi Gong class here at Zen Wellness.  I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about a year ago and have been suffering with widespread pain, stiffness and fatigue for over two years.  I had not been able to work or even have much of a social life with friends and family.  I felt depressed and angry that I my life had been taken away from me.  I was told by my Dr., Dr. Keller, to give Chi gong a try.

I have to admit I was very skeptical at first, I did not think that I could do it and I wasn’t sure that “martial arts” could do anything for me.  In six months I have change so much.  I have learned that I can harness that energy in me to get me through my day.  I have increased my strength and stamina in standing, in my arms, and even decreased pain in my chest and shoulders to a very minimum.  I take about half the pain medication that I use to and when my fibromyalgia flares up and I am not able to do much…I know that it will pass and I can get through it.  My disease will never go away…but my life is good.

Than you to my instructor and to Dr. Keller,
Charlene Nichol

Dear Master Campbell,

I wanted to send you this note and comment on my experience in the classes I have been attending since the last week of October 2008.

I came to you as sort of a last resort to see if I could help a debilitating back problem I suffer from. I have degenerative arthritis in my lower back. At times it’s hard to walk, sit, sleep or function normally.

After spending thousands of dollars and seeing a total of six doctors over the course of three years I thought I would give Chi Gong, Yoga, and Tai Chi a try.

I’m here to report that my back although not healed is feeling better and better as I progress in my classes. My pain is becoming manageable and I no longer need the pain medication I’ve been taking for some time.

Also your staff and instructors are very professional and make the classes informative and fun.

I also have received my first belt and can’t wait till I earn the next one. To say the least this has very much changed my life. You’ll have this student for a long time to come.

Thanks again,

I’ve taken the Chi Fit program with Michael Leone.  I feel that it’s going to be a great value to our yoga studio and a wonderful gift to our community, as well as a wonderful art form for me to practice for myself as well as even my family.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I’m going to continue learning with Michael in the future.

I gained more energy, motivation to get out of the house, flexibility, confidence in voice and in everyday life and at work, a sense of belonging (to a family.)

Thank you Master Campbell!

I was invited to attend this seminar by Master Leone and Master Campbell.  I have been involved for a good while now in learning the Zen Wellness and Chi Fit program.  I have been implementing the basic portions of that program at our school.

The reason for my attendance at this one is we are taking the next step to further expand this program into the 8 vessels area because we cultivated enough beginning Qi Gong students that it’s time to take them to the next level.  In addition, we are also expanding our senior cliental with the Chi Fit program and the medical Qi Gong.  This was a terrific weekend.  You always hear new additional inspiring information.  This weekend was no different from the other times we’ve gotten together except this happens to be an exquisitely beautiful setting.  I was able to retain 2 to 3 times more information than normal just because of the location and the fact that it was a very intensive seminar, the best ever so far.

These Tai Chi sessions at UMA have helped me be aware of my need to be consistent in exercising on my own at home to achieve a better sense of balance, breathe more deeply, improve my posture, “smile” more, and try to be patient with my seemingly slow progress.

I feel it is helpful; when I refuse to give up easily, which is sometimes tempting! Perhaps those around me are inspired to see the value of consistency. My usual response to those who know my involvement with UMA is to invite them to try this training and encourage them to be a part of this experience.

My name is Gloria Trillo, and I am a teacher, and I’ve been a teacher for over 30 years.

About a year ago I started having all sorts of difficulties…arthritis, a lot of pain, injuries just about everywhere…a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of sleep apnea, and then eventually I got diagnosed with a micro-valve regurgitation, a lot of fluid in my lungs, basically, a lot of things were going wrong.

A very good friend of mine at work started telling me about the Tai Chi classes that she was taking, and I had read, through the arthritis magazines about how good it is, so I took her up on her invitation to watch a class.

I saw all sorts of different types of people in the class, young, and old, so I thought I’d give it a try.

After a few days, I thought “wow, I don’t know…” But soon, I started seeing such good results in the way that I was feeling, my energy level was better, my arthritis was going away.

I started to be a lot more flexible, everything just started doing so much better, recently I just saw my pulminologist again and she was very pleasantly surprised.

My lung capacity was now normal, and everything, my arthritis doctor also, the levels of the RA are all good, and I just have been feeling so good.

I have been able to lose a lot of weight along with the Tai Chi, and it has just been a reversal from what was happening a year ago, and the biggest difference is my Tai Chi classes, I just want to say this is the best thing I’ve ever done, and if you are thinking of doing it, you are not going to be wrong in taking these classes. Thank You!

What I liked best about the course was the opportunity to go more deeply into protocols I’ve already been learning and to work with the 8 Vessels.  Master Leone’s teaching style is lively and engaging, and he has a tremendous store of knowledge and experience to share – which he does with a lot of humor.

In just two days I could feel my energy level increase.  The training also helped me see how I can incorporate qigong and taoist concepts into daily activity so that the practice becomes a way of life.

My Story:

In 2004 I learned that I had diabetes, Osteoporosis and Vaginal Cancer.  The week of January 17th I started radiation and chemo therapy. The end of February saw me in the hospital  because I could not eat.  For two weeks I was fed  through an IV.  I looked 85 years old, in fact I was 52.  37 radiation treatments later my tail bone looks like a burnt log in the fire. The pain was level 10 24/7.  In June of 2007 I had to stop working .  In 2008 the doctor decided to put in a pain pump in my body.  It has taken four years through trial and error of medications for the pump to control my pain.

During the years before my pain became under control I felt I was heading for a wheel chair or nursing home.  Since I could not go to a gym, my sister suggested that we try a low or no impact exercise program.  While at a nail appointment a couple of doors down from  the Wellness Center as we were brainstorming, an idea came to us to look into Tai Chi as a good start.  When we walked into the Center we were told about the Medical Qi Gong program and after a sample session joined right there on the spot.

We went 2 times a week and by the middle of June I folded up my cane and put it away.  We continued twice a week until the middle of August when we joined the TaiChi program.  We now go three times a week, Qi Gong 3 times and Tai Chi 2 times. My high blood pressure is back to normal and my osteoporosis is virtually none existent.  On a scale of 0-10, my pain level is now 0-5.  I credit my return to good health to Medical Qi Gong and Tai Chi.

My hubby suggested that the following observations may be of interest to you. So, here it goes…

On Oct. 1st, while traveling down a middle lane of US60 East, our Dodge Ram was side-swiped. It reminded me of the chariot race scene from Ben Hur! Interestingly enough, a kind of observer mind-set kicked in which, after a split-second of shock, allowed me to size up the situation and then act. By blowing the truck’s horn until we were able to pull over to the side of the road, it not only cleared the space around us of traffic but also allowed the driver of the vehicle that hit us to follow the Ram over to the side of the rode as well. I mentioned to my sisters that I don’t know how I thought to start blowing the horn. They say it was Angel Gabriel’s suggestion :) No one was hurt in either vehicle. I suppose that is the joy part of this all.

No sooner did we get the Ram back from the body shop than…

Exactly, 3 weeks to the day and at approximately the same time, a young woman made a left-hand turn into our 2004 Honda CRV and totaled it! Except for air bag abrasions, no one was seriously hurt. Now here is the interesting part. In the middle of the street, while we were waiting for the police to arrive, I turned around and there was Cindy Leech (like an angel who had just dropped out of the blue) telling me to start fire path breathing and giving me a much appreciated hug. At the point where a tow truck had been called, I turned around to find a neighbor approaching (a second angel) asking if he could help. He gave a me a ride home. Shortly thereafter, our son called _out of the blue_ (the third angel of the day).

So, what’s my point? In both cases, somehow I remained quite calm and lucid as these two events unfolded. I do attribute this to Qi Gong lessons learned. Let’s hear it for CLARITY…

Regarding my “hubby”, Dr. Keller, who is our physician (another benefit of Zen Wellness affiliation), has given Harold very good advice. Now he is following an exercise and movement regime that noticeably makes a difference.

Chief, another reason for this message is to thank you and Master Campbell for providing a Westside Zen Wellness center. Many people are benefiting from the Qi Gong lessons and exercises you share.
